A Pattaya traffic cop is desperately calling out for justice after a hit-and-run driver left him with a broken foot—and a pile of unpaid medical bills.

Special Affairs Traffic Officer Anirut Buachum was directing traffic near the Soi Chaiyapornvithi intersection in North Pattaya on August 5 when disaster struck.

A white Chevrolet sedan, speeding and failing to signal, suddenly turned and ran over the 39 year old traffic cop’s foot before fleeing the scene. The driver, arrogantly assuming Anirut wasn’t badly injured, didn’t even stop to check on him.

Anirut’s injuries were severe, with a broken right foot landing him in Bang Lamung Hospital. A police report was filed, and the driver, initially appearing remorseful, agreed to pay Anirut 30,000 baht in three instalments. However, in a shocking turn of events, Anirut revealed that not a single baht had been paid, leaving him to fend for himself.

“The driver’s showing no concern for my situation.”

Suspecting the driver may have connections to influential figures, Anirut fears the case may be swept under the rug.

Despite feeling abandoned by the system he serves, Anirut is determined to see justice done. He continues to recover, performing light duties while hoping the driver finally takes responsibility, reported Pattaya Mail.

“I just want what was promised,” Anirut added, as he looked forward to fully resuming his duties once healed.
