Pattaya hit-and-run: British tourist left with dislocated shoulder
A British tourist sustained injuries after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Pattaya. The incident occurred at 12.10am, yesterday, July 7, on Soi Arunothai, Pattaya Central Road, in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chon Buri province.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find 76 year old Graham Hughes lying injured on the road. Semi-conscious, Hughes had a dislocated left shoulder and a laceration on his foot. After administering first aid, they transported him urgently to Banglamung Hospital.
An eyewitness, 41 year old Pirawan, reported that the British tourist had been in Thailand for two days and had just left a bar when he was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the street. The impact threw him to the ground, causing his injuries.
The motorcyclist did not stop to help and immediately sped away from the scene. In their haste, the driver accidentally dropped a sandal. Pattaya police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and locate the motorcyclist, reported Pattaya News.
In similar news, a hit-and-run incident in Nonthaburi at 1am yesterday, June 28, resulted in multiple injuries, including five minors and two women.
Bang Bua Thong police responded to the accident on Bang Kruai-Sai Noi Road, where rescue teams found five minors, aged between 14 and 17, with several injuries and two slightly damaged motorbikes nearby. Their names were withheld due to their age.
In other news, two women reached out to several Thai news agencies to seek justice after a motorcycle taxi rider physically assaulted them in Soi Pattaya 4 after they complained about the rider failing to signal before turning.
The victims, 42 year old Mayom and 25 year old Arthitiya, revealed to Channel 3 and other news agencies that the assault occurred on July 2 in Soi Pattaya 4. Mayom required four stitches to a wound on her head, and Arthitiya suffered a bruise to her eye.
