A foreign couple refused to pay compensation after their sexual activity damaged furniture and Christmas decorations at a hotel in Pattaya last night, December 24.

Chaos broke out at a hotel in Pattaya Soi 8 on Christmas Eve as hotel workers and officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station were reportedly chasing a foreign woman wearing a white mini-dress.

The foreign woman believed to be around 40 years old, was reportedly intoxicated. She shouted obscenities at the officers and hotel staff while running away. Police were able to apprehend her after more than 30 minutes and took her to the police station.

One of the hotel workers told ThaiRath that the foreign woman and her partner caused damage to furniture and Christmas decorations in the hotel lobby. The damage occurred when the couple attempted to have sex on a sofa.

According to staff, the couple started off by kissing on the hotel lobby sofa, which overturned. The couple then fell off the sofa, hitting a nearby Christmas tree and other decorations.

As the foreign woman was a guest at the hotel, the workers sought compensation from her. She refused to pay, so they encouraged her to resolve the matter at the police station, located just 400 metres from the hotel.

The foreign woman continued to deny any responsibility, prompting the workers to summon the police. However, she ran away from the hotel, leading both hotel workers and police officers on a chase.

Police allowed her to rest at the station and would discuss the legal consequences and the compensation amount once she sobered up. There is no mention of her foreign partner.

Following her actions, the woman may face charges under Section 358 of the Criminal Code for damaging another person’s property. The penalty for this offence is imprisonment for six months to 10 years, along with a fine ranging from 10,000 to 200,000 baht.

In a similar incident, another foreign woman caused a disturbance at a hotel in Phuket in April. The foreigner, later identified as a Portuguese woman, refused to pay the taxi fare upon arriving at the hotel. She then threatened the taxi driver with a knife, but the hotel staff intervened in time.

This Portuguese woman is believed to be the same person involved in a separate incident, where she was seen wandering around a Phuket hotel topless and begging for money.
