A serious road accident resulted in a fiery crash and a fatality on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road, heading towards the Lak Si intersection.

The incident took place at 7.45am this morning. Nawin Sonitpon, a police investigator at Don Mueang Police Station, was on the scene to assess the situation alongside Don Mueang Fire Station and Poh Teck Tung Foundation officers.

The accident scene was on a two-lane road. Officers used barriers to divert traffic as it was a bypass around an electricity pole at the National Housing Authority. The vehicles involved in the accident had collided head-on at high speed.

On the scene, a completely burned black PCX motorcycle was found about 10 metres away from a white bread delivery van with a crumpled front, shattered windscreen, deflated tyres and facing the wrong direction.

A white Honda City car was also damaged on the front left side with injuries to the driver of the bread delivery van, 29 year old Jatupol (surname withheld) who sustained a head injury and was taken to Paolo Kaset Hospital. A fatality was also discovered, identified as a 38 year old man named Paritat (surname withheld) whose body was distorted and found in the middle of the railway tracks, about 10 meters away from the accident scene, reported KhaoSod.

The driver of the sedan, 25 year old Apiwat stated that he was on his way to work at the Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Road when the incident occurred. He saw the van driving the wrong way in his lane before it hit a barrier and then his car.

The vehicle then lost control and crashed into the side of the road. However, at that moment, he was unaware that the van had also collided with a motorcycle following behind. The incident was recorded by Traffic Emergency 1197.
