Fake bomb found in roadside bin sparks alarm in Pathum Thani

Residents were alarmed after discovering six orange stick-like objects resembling a bomb, wired to a working timer, abandoned in a roadside rubbish bin outside an empty company building. Police were alerted to the scene yesterday, March 3 at 2pm.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Setthawut Kamnama, from the Investigation Division of the Khu Khot Police Station in Pathum Thani province, received the report from locals who found the suspicious items in a rubbish bin outside a commercial building on Semue Fa Kram Road, in the Khu Khot subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka district. Along with a team of investigators and patrol officers, he promptly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, police found the suspicious items inside a 200-litre green plastic bin placed near a utility pole. The location was in front of a three-storey commercial building, which was formerly an office and is now closed.
The items included five to six orange sticks, each about one cubit in length, tied together and wired to a timer that was still running, resembling an explosive device. Police secured the area to keep residents at bay and conducted a thorough examination, concluding that it was a fake bomb.
Further investigation led to a former employee of the company, who explained that the suspicious items might have been props used for filming content for a YouTube channel. She noted that the company used to create games, and if content required specific props, they would make them, reported KhaoSod.
Since the company had closed some time ago, someone likely disposed of these items without realising the alarm it would cause among the locals, who mistook them for a real bomb.

In similar news, a pet dog mistook a bomb for a toy, brought it back to her family home in the Isaan province of Udon Thani, and gave it to a four year old boy. Fortunately, the boy showed it to his father before it could explode and cause a tragedy.
