Body of missing teen found in Lampang reservoir
Yesterday, September 11, news broke that the body of 19 year old Phubet, was recovered from Huai Bok Reservoir in Ban Pong Pradu, Serm Ngam district, Lampang province. Locals, assisted by the Lampang Rescue Association, the Serm Ngam District Rescue Association, and the Sawang Nakorn Lampang Rescue Unit, had been searching for him since his disappearance was reported.
Phubet was last seen leaving his home in Ban Kiw Huai Boerk, Serm Klang subdistrict, Serm Ngam district, on September 7 at 4am. His family and local community members began searching for him when he failed to return, eventually discovering his motorbike and mobile phone at the reservoir’s edge in Serm Khwa subdistrict.
Despite extensive night searches by relatives, villagers, and rescue personnel up until September 10, Phubet remained missing. The search resumed today, leading to the discovery of his body floating on the water’s surface.
Officials were immediately notified, and the police, accompanied by a doctor from Serm Ngam Hospital, arrived to conduct a preliminary examination before transferring the body to the hospital’s forensic department.
The headman of Ban Pong Pradu described Huai Bok Reservoir as a natural water body that receives runoff from the surrounding highlands. It is located about 8 kilometres from the village, in a forested area where residents often forage for mushrooms and other forest products. The terrain is rugged and only accessible by motorbike, which explains why Phubet’s motorbike was found there, reported KhaoSod.
The exact cause of Phubet’s death remains under investigation by officials. The community is left in mourning as they await further details from the ongoing inquiry.
