Bangkok police seize 34,000 counterfeit perfumes worth 4.3m
Fake perfumes seized in Bangkok, Chinese smuggling ring busted

The Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) carried out a recent operation in Bangkok, leading to the seizure of over 34,000 counterfeit branded perfumes smuggled from China, valued at 4.3 million baht.
Commander Pattanasak Bupphasuwan of the CPPD announced that the May 3 raids focused on suspected storage hubs in Rat Burana and Bukkhalo districts.
During these coordinated searches, 34,806 fake perfumes mimicking renowned international brands were confiscated across five sites. The seized items were assessed to hold a value of 4,361,200 baht, according to Pattanasak.
The operation was triggered by a prior arrest of a Thai individual involved in the illegal sale of cosmetics and fragrances. This arrest led to the discovery that the products were sourced from a Chinese financier, responsible for smuggling them into Thailand. To avoid detection, the counterfeit items were concealed in several rented warehouses.
The police dedicated weeks to tracking the supply network and obtaining court warrants to search the warehouses.
It was found that the Chinese organiser used mule bank accounts, registered under Cambodian nationals’ names, to funnel proceeds from the illegal trade. The counterfeit perfumes were packaged to closely resemble authentic products, although the contents were of inferior quality, reported Bangkok Post.
Pattanasak highlighted the health dangers posed by counterfeit products.
“Counterfeit products can pose serious health risks, such as skin irritation, respiratory problems, nasal inflammation, rashes, or even more severe allergic reactions like high blood pressure, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.”

Similarly, on March 26, police arrested a 40 year old Chinese national who had obtained Thai citizenship and a 36 year old Chinese woman for allegedly selling counterfeit cosmetics and medicines. Police seized over 8,200 illegal items from two rented houses in Wang Thonglang, Bangkok.
The operation led to the discovery of 4,928 medicinal and herbal products at a house in Lat Phrao, and an additional 3,342 items, including medicines, herbal products, cosmetics, and food, at a second house in the same area.
