An ambulance crew had a near-death experience when they were attacked by a patient yesterday, December 1.

The patient’s relatives had obscured information, not disclosing that the patient was in a drug-induced frenzy. The patient turned violent, using an electric saw to attack the ambulance, with no one coming to the rescue. The driver’s quick thinking allowed the whole team to escape without harm.

The harrowing incident was shared on Facebook by a rescue worker, Jojo Chic Chic, who detailed the terrifying ordeal. On November 30, they received a call around 7.45pm from emergency line 1669 about a Thai male who had ingested rat poison and was suffering from severe abdominal pains.

Urged by the patient’s relatives to arrive quickly, the team set out with one nurse, one Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, one Basic Emergency Medical Technician, and a driver.

When they arrived at the scene around 8.15pm, they found the patient’s home situated at the end of a narrow, dead-end alley. Several neighbours were standing outside their homes, looking anxious.

Three dogs were barking and attempted to follow the ambulance, hindering the rescue efforts. The team could not approach the patient due to the unsafe conditions, hearing a loud bang on the ambulance roof but unable to identify the source due to the surrounding darkness.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of an electric saw and screams from neighbours telling them to leave. The driver locked the doors and quickly manoeuvred the ambulance out of the alley.

The patient had begun attacking the ambulance with the saw, shattering the rear window where a rescue worker was seated. The attacker then proceeded to damage the side window near the front of the ambulance, causing the team to take cover beneath the seats in fear.

There was no help from the onlookers, and they were left to escape the dangerous situation on their own, reported KhaoSod.

The driver managed to navigate the narrow alley quickly, ensuring everyone’s safety. It was then revealed that the patient was under the influence of drugs, information that had been concealed by the relatives. The team thanked the barking dogs that had prevented them from exiting the vehicle earlier, potentially saving their lives.

The terrifying experience left the team shaken but unharmed. They continued to support each other and were relieved to have survived the ordeal. Everyone is in good spirits, with no signs of panic or PTSD.
