Preliminary investigations revealed that the van was transporting Grade 7 students from Thidamaepra School in Krabi province to a camping site in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Other students from the group were traveling separately on a bus that followed the van.

Police investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading it to skid off the road and into the ditch. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather more information about the incident, reported Bangkok Post.
