Mitsubishi Pajero crash in Prachinburi leaves one dead, one injured
A tragic accident unfolded when a Mitsubishi Pajero lost control, hitting a utility pole before spinning across lanes and violently colliding with a pink taxi. The crash resulted in a fatality and a serious injury, leaving bystanders and those involved in shock.
The incident occurred early today, November 15, at 12.30am, on the 304 Road near the U-turn at Ban Nong Por in Sri Maha Phot district, Prachinburi province. The Pajero, registered in Bangkok, ended up obstructing the middle of the road with significant rear and left-side damage, even losing a wheel. The taxi, also registered in Bangkok, was found off the road with extensive frontal damage.
CCTV footage revealed the Pajero was heading towards Sri Maha Phot when it struck the central divider at the U-turn, causing it to spin out of control and crash into the taxi. Tragically, the impact was fatal for a passenger in the taxi, identified as Zhang Song, a Chinese national.
The taxi driver, Udomchai, whose surname has been withheld, suffered severe injuries. The Pajero driver, however, emerged unharmed from the accident.
A local, Pradit, recounted hearing a loud crash while sitting outside his home. Upon looking up, he saw the Pajero, which was travelling from Kao Hin Son, veer off its course after hitting a utility pole. The vehicle then crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming taxi from Baan Khlong Rang. This collision resulted in both vehicles sustaining heavy damage and caused injuries and fatalities.
Emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation arrived promptly, transporting the injured taxi driver to Chularat 304 Hospital. Despite the quick response, the passenger’s life could not be saved at the scene, reported KhaoSod.
The Pajero driver, reflecting on the incident, expressed his remorse. He was en route to the 304 Industrial Zone in Sri Maha Phot and was taken by surprise when the collision occurred.
“I don’t know how it happened. I only realised what had happened after the crash. I feel terrible that someone lost their life.”
