A 67 year old fruit vendor, known locally as “Uncle Kong,” who has been selling fruit for 47 years, is urging people to support his business rather than offer donations. If sales do not improve by April, he plans to move to a welfare home.

Uncle Kong shared that he began selling fruit at the age of 20. Currently living alone, he travels by tricycle to purchase his fruit and sells it daily. During the day, he sells fruit around Chokchai 4 in Lat Phrao-Wang Hin, and at night, he positions himself near a convenience store along Chokchai 4 between Soi 20 and 24.

Uncle Kong mentions that the work is not strenuous, although he occasionally experiences leg pain. He notes that customer numbers have dwindled recently, affecting his sales. Despite this, he remains hopeful that business will improve, allowing him to continue his trade.

Uncle Kong insists he is in good health and, while his speech is not entirely clear, he continues to sell fruit passionately. He has expressed his preference for people to support his business by buying fruit rather than accepting donations.

A 56 year old woman, Lek, who rents a house to Uncle Kong, shared that he has been her tenant for two years and mostly keeps to himself. Uncle Kong sells fruit daily and returns home late in the evening.

Known for his good nature, he has never caused any trouble. Even with a broken light at home, he refrains from complaining to avoid being any bother.

Despite his health not being robust, Uncle Kong is determined to work hard every day, and Lek encourages him although their conversations are limited due to his busy schedule, reported KhaoSod.
