Chiang Mai residents have been eagerly purchasing lottery tickets ahead of the August 16 draw, with popular numbers selling out quickly. The bustling market scenes across various districts reflect the high demand for these lucky numbers.

By 8.30am today, August 14, the atmosphere was lively as locals scoured numerous lottery stalls for their desired numbers. Popular spots included morning markets in each district, Mahidol Road in Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai-Lamphun Road in Saraphi, Chiang Mai Gate, Haiya Cemetery, Nong Hoi in Mueang district, the railway station, Arcade Transport Station, and Chang Phueak Gate.

Despite the demand, the price of lottery tickets remained high, with single tickets at 100 baht (US$2.8) and ticket sets ranging from 110 to 120 baht (US$3 to US$3.4).

One lottery vendor, Pannee, mentioned that the wholesale price of lottery tickets from distributors was between 86 and 88 baht per ticket. However, due to retail markups, they had to sell each ticket at 100 baht and ticket sets for 110 to 120 baht. The most sought-after numbers were related to Mother’s Day, which falls on August 12, such as 812, 902, 475, 12, 92, and 93.

Pannee also highlighted other auspicious numbers, including 28, 10, 72, 728, 904, 672, and 972. Additionally, numbers linked to the birthday of General Prawit Wongsuwan on August 11, 1945, such as 927, 731, 92, and 73, were also in high demand.

Ploypairin, a prominent lottery number predictor, shared insights based on astrological calculations and northern lottery trends. She noted that the upcoming draw on Friday, August 16, features significant numbers like 6 and 9, with friendly pairings such as 3. For two-digit numbers, she recommended combinations like 96, 39, 36, 13, 68, 45, 60, 07, 41, 34, 67, 46, 81, 84, 47, 17, 10, 80, 15, 51, 50, and 05.

She advised against betting on double numbers but emphasised the strength of 51, 15, 50, and 05.

The fascination with lottery numbers also extends to cultural icons. Kraisorn Saeng-anant, along with his son Petch, recently opened their Chiang Mai home to the public. The house, located at 199/529 Suan Nontree Village in San Sai, showcased clothing and accessories belonging to the late singer Phumphuang Duangjan.

They recorded a video of the event, which was shared on social media. On August 4, they visited Wat San Sai Moon in Chiang Mai to commemorate Phumphuang’s birthday in a quiet ceremony, reported KhaoSod.

Phumphuang, born on August 4, 1961, remains a source of inspiration for many lottery enthusiasts. Her significant numbers for the upcoming draw include 04, 40, 62, 26, 63, 36, 331, 311, 259, and 199. The house also retains original furniture from Phumphuang’s time, adding a nostalgic touch to the memorabilia.
