A British man died in a road accident in Chiang Mai after falling off his motorbike and being struck by multiple vehicles during a late-night ride.

Craig Davies, who was just days away from celebrating his 51st birthday, was killed instantly in the early hours of yesterday, October 9, following a high-speed crash in Chiang Mai.

According to police, the British national lost control of his KTM 1290 Super Duke motorcycle before hitting the road surface. Seconds later, he was hit by three separate vehicles.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Adulsiri Wongtankard of Mae Ping Police Station confirmed the fatal incident and offered condolences to the victim’s family.

“I feel sorry for the victim’s relatives. This is a deeply traumatic event. People who witnessed the incident are in shock. The British Embassy in Bangkok has been informed and has the details of the accident and the victim’s identity.”

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but confirmed Davies had died on impact. His body has been transferred to a local hospital for formal identification and post-mortem procedures.

Tributes have since poured in on social media from devastated friends and colleagues. One heartfelt message came from friend Aomkhwan Pronpan, who wrote, “Thank you for always supporting me. You are my best brother. Rest in peace.”

The British Embassy is reportedly coordinating with Thai police and Craig’s family to provide consular support and assist with the repatriation process, according to Metro UK.

Motorbike accidents remain one of the leading causes of death among foreign nationals in Thailand, with Chiang Mai often highlighted as a high-risk area due to winding mountain roads and high-speed highways.

Police continue to investigate the incident and will review CCTV footage and witness statements to confirm the exact sequence of events.
