Phetchaburi cop kills egg-selling couple in price row tragedy
Pfficer shoots 2 dead at market before taking his own life

A police officer fatally shot a couple at a local market in Phetchaburi before taking his own life, following an ongoing business dispute.
A horrific shooting in Phetchaburi province has left a married couple dead after a police officer opened fire at their market stall, before turning the gun on himself. The violent episode, rooted in a long-running feud over egg prices, unfolded in the early hours of today, September 6.
The incident occurred at a shop inside the 18-metre market in Mueang Phetchaburi district. Local police were alerted at 5.45am, with Police Colonel Sunantha Rodphet of Mueang Phetchaburi Police Station receiving the initial report. Police Lieutenant Colonel Chokchai Nielsen, director of the station, coordinated the emergency response alongside hospital staff and volunteers from the Sawangsanphet Thammasathan Foundation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of two victims inside the shop. They were identified as 31 year old Siwaporn from Tha Yang district, and 33 year old Krisada from Mueang Phetchaburi district. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head, fired from a 9mm SIG Sauer P320 handgun.
Roughly 20 metres from the shop, the gunman, identified as Police Sergeant Somsak Permsap, was found dead in an abandoned cinema building. He had used the same weapon to take his own life, apparently to avoid prosecution. The firearm was still clutched in his right hand.
Investigations suggest the tragedy stemmed from a simmering business dispute. According to witnesses, Somsak had been involved in ongoing arguments with the couple over egg pricing for more than a year. This morning, he approached the stall, shot Krisada first, then killed Siwaporn as she rushed to help her husband, reported KhaoSod.
Police say the couple had previously reported tensions with Somsak but no legal action had been taken.
“The motive behind this tragic event was clearly the prolonged dispute over egg pricing,” Pol. Lt. Col. Chokchai said.
