Two teens arrested for fatal shooting in Bangkok

Gun violence rattles capital city as police investigate motive

Two suspects were apprehended following the fatal shooting of a 34 year old man in Soi Nuanchan 22 in Bangkok. The incident took place on May 3 when the suspects, riding a red PCX motorcycle without a license plate, fired approximately 15 shots before fleeing.

Today, May 6, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom directed the arrest of 19 year old Chanithphon, also known as Chef, and a 17 year old accomplice.

They face charges of premeditated murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public area. The arrests were made following a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on May 4.

Upon investigating, police discovered that after the crime, the suspects fled to a friend’s condominium at Kilometre 8 to change clothes.

Another associate then drove them to Rama 2, from where they escaped to Hat Yai district in Songkhla province. The victim, who had a criminal history, was shot nine times, including in the head.

The pressure from police led the suspects to surrender, facilitated through family contact. They are currently being transported to Khlong Khlaem Police Station.
