Two men were apprehended by police after allegedly abducting and assaulting a young woman, tying her up and attempting to flee with her in a car. The dramatic rescue took place on a busy road, ensuring the woman’s safety.

The incident occurred yesterday, November 20, at approximately 4.33pm when Sumit Nanon, Deputy Inspector of Thung Khru Police Station, received a report of an assault involving an injured woman.

The initial information revealed that the victim, a 26 year old woman referred to as A, was attacked by two men inside a gold-coloured Toyota Altis with the license plate กล 5806 from Ratchaburi. The vehicle was travelling from Wat Thung Khru on Prachathip Road towards the Thung Khru intersection.

Sumit, along with a patrol team from Thung Khru Police Station, managed to intercept the vehicle near the entrance of Soi Pracha Uthit 93 in Thung Khru, Bangkok. Inside, they found 28 year old Pitiphum, at the wheel, with 29 year old Ratthaphong, as a passenger.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Ratthaphong and Pitiphum had orchestrated the abduction. A was Ratthaphong’s former girlfriend, and after she ended their relationship, he became infuriated.

Ratthaphong devised a plan, calling A under the pretence of returning her belongings, asking her to meet him outside a convenience store at Soi Chanthasom 4 on Pracha Uthit Road 90 in Phra Samut Chedi, Samut Prakan Province. When A arrived, Ratthaphong allegedly instructed Pitiphum to forcibly pull her into the car, where they tied her up.

During the struggle, the car door opened, attracting the attention of passersby who quickly notified the police. This coincided with Sumit’s receipt of the alert, enabling him to activate a red light signal to intercept and assist, reported KhaoSod.

“The motive appears to be jealousy, stemming from the man’s displeasure over the breakup, especially since the woman had begun seeing someone new,” stated Chumphon Sinsiripong, Chief of Thung Khru Police Station.

Initially, the men face charges of joint detention, assault, and coercion. They have been handed over to Wichaya Bunkoom, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Thung Khru Police Station, for further legal proceedings.
