It was a glitch: AirAsia explains price hike on Songkran flights

AirAsia has addressed the recent uproar over skyrocketing ticket prices on flights from Don International Mueang to Sakon Nakhon during the Songkran festival.

AirAsia responded to concerns over unusually high ticket prices on its Don Mueang-Sakon Nakhon route during the Songkran period, explaining that the issue was caused by a temporary glitch in its ticket booking system.

The airline has clarified that these prices did not translate into actual sales and that the system error has now been resolved.

Following the confusion, AirAsia conducted a thorough inspection of the flight bookings and confirmed that all flights between April 10 and 12 on the affected route were fully booked.

Despite the system glitch, the highest ticket price sold remained well within the price ceiling established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

AirAsia has reported the situation to the CAAT and provided them with a full explanation. The airline reassured the public that the pricing issue was a technical error and that no actual sales took place at the inflated prices.

To avoid further confusion, AirAsia advised passengers to book directly through the AirAsia MOVE app. By selecting AirAsia flights only, customers will receive instant flight confirmations, be assured of pricing under the specified price ceiling, and have access to additional services.

In light of the inconvenience caused, AirAsia has issued an apology to affected passengers and reaffirmed its commitment to adhering to all standard services and pricing guidelines as stipulated by the relevant authorities.

The airline emphasised that it takes these matters seriously and aims to offer transparent and fair pricing to all its customers, reported Channel 3 Plus.

For those planning to travel during the Songkran festival, AirAsia encourages booking directly through the airline’s official channels to ensure accurate pricing and avoid similar issues in the future.
