Heavy rain lashes 43 provinces, Bangkok braces for floods
Storm winds and rising seas trigger marine warnings across coastal regions

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasts heavy rain across 43 provinces today, with significant impact expected in the South and 60% of Bangkok. Residents are advised to be cautious of potential flash floods and forest run-off, particularly in areas near water flows or low-lying regions.
The forecast for today, May 3, indicates that the South will experience increased rainfall with heavy downpours in certain locations. This is due to easterly winds moving over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, while northwesterly winds cover the Andaman Sea. Both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are expected to have waves around 1 metre high, increasing to over 2 metres during thunderstorms. Mariners in these regions are advised to avoid navigating during stormy weather.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, May 4, heavy rain is anticipated in 40 provinces. Northern Thailand, the northeastern and central regions will continue to experience thunderstorms and strong wind gusts, alongside hot daytime temperatures. The southern and southeastern winds are bringing moisture across the upper parts of the country. Residents should remain vigilant against thunderstorms and potential health impacts from changing weather conditions. Due to ongoing rain, the accumulation of dust and haze in the upper regions remains moderate.
