Police issued an arrest warrant for a Chinese man who allegedly forced a female Thai party entertainer to take drugs while serving him, resulting in her death at a hotel in the Bang Kapi area of Bangkok.

The entertainer’s death was reported yesterday, February 16, by the Facebook page Esor News. The page posted a picture of the female entertainer, later identified as Irada, along with a caption that read…

“A secret story from an insider: a female entertainer was hired by a Chinese man who forced her to take drugs until she went into shock and died. The Chinese man then checked out of the hotel and fled before contacting the entertainer’s modelling agency to check on her body.

The modelling agency attempted to cover up the matter by offering approximately 100,000 baht to the entertainer’s family, asking them not to report her death to the police.”

The story garnered significant public attention, prompting Irada’s family and officers at Chokchai Police Station, who are handling the case, to address the matter publicly.

According to the police, they were notified of Irada’s death on February 10 and began investigating the hotel room where she was found. Irada was discovered lying half-naked on the bed, with no visible wounds or signs of physical assault.

Officers reviewed the hotel’s security camera footage and identified a suspicious Chinese man, Duoying, who checked into the hotel on February 9 at 11.16pm.

Irada was seen entering his hotel room on February 10 at 2.51am. Duoying was later captured on camera leaving the room alone at 6.16am and has not returned to the hotel since.

Duoying is reported to have frequently visited Thailand and regularly hired Thai party entertainers. Police also found a drug known as happy water in the hotel room.

Happy water is a mixture of drugs, including gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), ketamine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and crystal methamphetamine.

Irada’s mother, 45 year old Saowanee Photharam, and her sister, Aunyarat Photharam, spoke to the media yesterday. Aunyarat revealed that the family had only discovered Irada’s work as a party entertainer after her death. They believed she was employed by a private company.

Before her death, Irada contacted her family to request money for her condominium rental fee. However, the family was unable to provide the amount she needed. Aunyarat speculated that this financial difficulty may have pushed Irada to work as an entertainer for the first time, leading to her death.

Aunyarat firmly stated that her sister had no history of drug use and had never discussed drugs or her work as an entertainer with her family.

She also confirmed that a modelling agency had acted as the intermediary between Irada and the Chinese national.

The agency reportedly offered the family 100,000 baht, as mentioned in the Esor News post, and later increased the offer to 200,000 baht, but the family declined the money.

Aunyarat further alleged that the police urged her family to drop legal proceedings and accept money from the modelling agency, promising to negotiate a compensation amount of 500,000 baht.

The police reportedly argued that Irada had willingly agreed to work as an entertainer and to take drugs, suggesting the family’s case would likely fail if taken to court.

Despite this, Aunyarat and her family insisted on pursuing legal action against both the modelling agency and the Chinese man. They stated that they had no interest in accepting any financial compensation.

As of now, police have issued an arrest warrant for the Chinese suspect on charges of reckless behaviour causing death. If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to 20,000 baht under Section 291 of the Criminal Law.
