Man arrested for filming under skirts at Bangkok concert
Police detained a 26 year old man from Udon Thani for allegedly attempting to covertly record under a female concertgoer’s skirt at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on February 16. The incident occurred amidst a large concert attended by both Thai and international audiences, including many Chinese tourists.
The arrest was led by Police Colonel Pronthwee Somwang and officers from the Hua Mak Police Station, who apprehended Teerayut at the stadium’s entrance. He was found with a mobile phone and a paper bag used to conceal the device employed in the act.
Witnesses reported seeing Teerayut place his phone inside a paper bag, then attempt to use it to record beneath the skirt of a Chinese tourist. The victim noticed the act and raised an alarm, leading to the intervention of security personnel who detained the suspect.
Police Colonel Pronthwee confirmed that Teerayut had no prior criminal record and was currently unemployed. Teerayut admitted to engaging in such activities for approximately one month. Examination of his phone corroborated his confession, revealing footage consistent with his claims.
Further investigation uncovered that Teerayut had intended to sell these illicit videos on social media. He reportedly planned to open an account on platform X for this purpose and had been conversing with others about his plans to create and sell these recordings. In the past few days, two victims were identified as having been recorded without consent, reported KhaoSod.
Teerayut confessed to the allegations against him. Consequently, police charged him with actions deemed disgraceful in public spaces. The case has been forwarded to investigators at Hua Mak Police Station for further legal proceedings.
In similar news, Bangkok police officers recently apprehended a 50 year old suspect for his involvement in a string of perverse incidents, where he covertly filmed under women’s skirts. The arrest in the Lam Hin area followed a detailed investigation sparked by numerous reports of such violations.
