An elderly man in Bangkok accidentally left four valuable pieces of ancient gold jewellery in a taxi. Police successfully traced the items, revealing their worth to be around half a million baht. The incident occurred after the man travelled from Chatuchak yesterday, February 16.

Police Colonel Sanong Saengmanee, superintendent of Chanasongkram Police Station, stated that the investigative team was informed by 76 year old Nikom, who had forgotten the jewellery after his taxi ride from Chatuchak Park to Thewet intersection, located not too far away from the Grand Palace. The items included two rings and two necklaces of ancient gold.

On-duty police officers quickly pursued the investigation. They aimed to locate the taxi before it picked up another passenger. By reviewing CCTV footage, they identified the taxi as a green-yellow vehicle with Bangkok registration plates. The owner was promptly contacted to check for the forgotten items.

After contact was made, the driver inspected the vehicle and found the jewellery, which matched the police description. The collection, weighing approximately 10 baht in gold, was valued at around 500,000 baht.

The jewellery was returned to its owner, and Chanasongkram Police Station took the opportunity to remind the public to check their belongings before leaving any vehicle, emphasising their commitment to assisting the community, reported KhaoSod.
