Bangkok woman arrested for selling meth to aid bedridden father
Police uncover tragic motive behind small-scale drug operation

Police apprehended a 43 year old woman suspected of selling methamphetamine, to support her bedridden father. The arrest of the woman, Yui, today, May 7, in the Min Buri district, Bangkok, uncovered five bags containing 121 pills and other evidence, following a tip-off from an informant.
The operation was part of the government’s anti-drug policy and led by several high-ranking police officers. Police Colonel Siam Boonsom and his team conducted the raid at a house in Soi Ram Inthra 86 after receiving information about Yui’s alleged activities.
Upon arrival, the officers saw Yui standing outside the house. Presenting a search warrant issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court, they approached her, prompting her to flee to the second floor, clutching an orange bag.
After securing the premises, police searched the bag and found the methamphetamine. Yui confessed the drugs were hers, explaining she sold them to locals to care for her ill father.
She admitted purchasing the drugs from a man named Manop, buying 100 pills for 1,000 baht (US$30), over the past four months. Transactions were conducted both in cash and via bank transfers, with police confirming 61 transfers between April 3 and May 6.
Yui sold the pills in her community for 50 baht (US$1.5) each. Communication with Manop for drug deliveries was handled through the LINE application, with meetings arranged by the canal on Soi Ram Inthra 86. Upon questioning, Yui admitted to using methamphetamine the previous day at around 10pm.
Following her arrest, Yui was taken to the investigation office of the Metropolitan Police Division 3 for a drug test. The initial results were positive, confirming the presence of drugs in her system, reported KhaoSod.
Consequently, Yui faces charges for selling and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, as well as drug use. She was handed over to the Min Buri Police Station for further legal proceedings.
