Monsoon deluge: Heavy rain continues to batter Thailand
TMD warns of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Bangkok

Heavy rainfall is forecasted across Thailand this weekend, with a tropical depression expected to make landfall in Vietnam and Laos, affecting the north, northeast, and eastern regions.
Warnings have been issued for 49 provinces, including Bangkok, regarding potential accumulated rainfall.
Yesterday, August 22, the Meteorological Department (TMD) predicted that sections of Thailand would experience heavy to very heavy rain, particularly in the eastern region.
Residents in Tak, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chanthaburi, and Trat have been advised to be cautious of potential dangers from intense rains and accumulation due to the moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, coupled with a low-pressure system over northern Laos and Vietnam.

In the upper Andaman Sea, waves are expected to reach heights of 1 to 2 metres, while the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will see waves around 1 metre high. In stormy areas, waves may exceed 2 metres. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy regions.
Additionally, a tropical depression near Luzon, Philippines, is anticipated to move into the upper South China Sea by today, August 23, and intensify into a tropical storm. It is expected to hit Vietnam and upper Laos on August 25-26, resulting in increased rainfall and strong winds in Thailand, particularly in the upper northeastern and northern regions from August 24-27.
