The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today issued a warning about heavy rain and cool temperatures affecting various parts of Thailand. Thirty-eight provinces, including Bangkok, are expected to experience significant rainfall, with the capital seeing rain in 60% of its area.

TMD’s forecast for the next 24 hours highlights that easterly and southeasterly winds are bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. This weather pattern affects the lower northeastern, central, Bangkok and surrounding areas, as well as the eastern regions of Thailand.

These conditions are expected to result in heavy rainfall in some eastern areas. Meanwhile, a weak high-pressure system or cool air mass continues to cover the upper northeastern region, leading to cooler morning temperatures. Residents in the upper part of Thailand are advised to take care of their health due to the changing weather conditions.

The forecast indicates that 31 provinces will be impacted by the heavy rain. The monsoon trough passing through the upper southern region is causing significant rainfall in parts of the south. Residents in these areas should be cautious of the dangers posed by the heavy and accumulated rainfall, which may lead to sudden flooding and flash floods, particularly in mountainous regions near waterways and low-lying areas.
