Tragedy struck when a pickup truck lost control and collided with a tree, leaving six people dead, including four children, on a highway in Surat Thani. The incident occurred today at 7.11am. Police were notified of a pickup truck crash on Asia Highway 41, near kilometre marker 124/500, opposite the Chaiya Transport Office in the Pa We sub-district of Chaiya district.
The devastating accident saw the front of the Toyota pickup truck, registered in Bangkok, severely damaged after hitting a tree in the median.
Inside the vehicle, four young lives were tragically cut short. Two boys and two girls were pronounced dead at the scene. Three adults, who suffered injuries, were rushed to Chaiya Hospital. Sadly, two of them succumbed to their injuries later.
An eyewitness described the scene, saying the pickup was travelling at a high speed before it swerved to avoid a parked school van, leading to the fatal collision with the tree.
The group was reportedly travelling from Chumphon province to Trang province when the unfortunate event unfolded. The loss of these young lives and the subsequent fatalities have cast a shadow of grief over the community, reported KhaoSod.
The spot where this tragic collision occurred is a mere 4 kilometres from the site of another recent deadly accident. Just the night before, a tourist coach crash resulted in the death of five individuals.
