Pickup truck crash in Ayutthaya claims one life, injures four

A pickup truck returning from Songkran celebrations lost control and veered off the road, plunging into an irrigation canal. The accident resulted in one fatality and four injuries. A survivor expressed uncertainty about the cause of the accident.
Today, April 16, Police Lieutenant Colonel Damrongsak Saeng-ngen of Bang Ban Police Station reported that at 11pm yesterday, April 15, a pickup truck overturned and fell into an irrigation canal along the Bang Ban-Wat Bang Pla Mo road in Mueang subdistrict, Bang Ban district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province.
Emergency services from Bang Ban Hospital and Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Association arrived at the scene to find an overturned Isuzu D-Max pickup with a Khon Kaen registration. The vehicle was severely damaged, and a large water tank was discovered in the back. Four injured people were assisted by bystanders and taken to the hospital.
The victims were identified as 24 year old Wanchalerm, 20 year old Amnuay, 35 year old Krisana, and 25 year old Natthawut. Unfortunately, Natthawut succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver, 40 year old Somphong, was also injured and taken to the hospital.
Wanchalerm stated that the group had just returned from celebrating Songkran in Ayutthaya Island and were heading back to their residence in Lat Bua Luang district.
At the time of the accident, there were five people in the vehicle, with two in the front and three in the back. He was unsure why the vehicle lost control but recalled being pulled to safety by bystanders.

Pitsanu Phongphoem, a rescue worker, recounted arriving at the scene to find four injured people along the roadside. Bystanders had already assisted them from the water. Despite efforts to perform CPR on one severely injured person who had drowned, the person ultimately passed away, reported KhaoSod.
Pol. Lt. Col. Damrongsak noted that the initial investigation indicated that the pickup truck accident resulted in four injuries and one death. An investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted to proceed with legal actions.
