A 72 year old man lost his life in a fatal car crash while on his way to help organise a funeral. His vehicle crashed into an electricity pole in the middle of a road.

The car crash accident occurred on Highway 309, near the Plan Poon u-turn in Phutthao subdistrict, Bang Pahan district in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. The victim’s car, a brown Mitsubishi sedan with registration number 6259 Bangkok, heavily damaged at the front, was found collided with a streetlight pole in the middle of the road.

The deceased, identified as Bamrung, was a resident of Bang Ban district. His body was found in the driver’s seat, stuck in the wrecked car. It took rescuers some time to extract the body from the vehicle using specialist cutting equipment. In addition to the streetlight pole, a traffic sign had also suffered damage, reported Sanook.

Bamrung’s wife, 70 year old Malee, was taken aback by the news. She revealed that her husband had just left home to take items for her sister-in-law’s funeral at Wat Khanon. A phone call informing her about the accident led her to believe he had suffered minor injuries, not death. It is noted that Bamrung had a pre-existing condition of hypertension and was taking medication.

The deceased’s nephew, 59 year old Wanchai, was also deeply saddened by the car crash news. He recalled his last conversation with his uncle, where Bamrung told him about his journey to the temple. He advised his uncle to focus on driving and stop using the phone.

Roughly 10 minutes later, he received a call about the accident. Grief-stricken, Wanchai mourned the fact that his mother’s funeral hadn’t taken place yet, and now he had to prepare for his uncle’s too. He suspects his uncle’s medical condition might have led to a sudden health complication, causing him to lose control of the car.

Police are now investigating the accident scene and the victim’s vehicle. Photographs have been taken as evidence. Witnesses will be interviewed to gather more information about the incident as per legal procedures.
