Thai nurse discovers boyfriend dead after stopping to help at car crash

Heartbreak on duty as lifesaving skills fail to save loved one

A Thai nurse stopped to assist at a car accident in Ayutthaya province on Saturday, September 6, only to discover that the deceased was her boyfriend.

Rescue workers from the Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Foundation and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital were alerted to the crash at Tung Makham Yong Intersection on Road 347 in Wat Toom sub-district at around 12.45am.

According to a report in ThaiRath, a white Mitsubishi Pajero SUV had collided with an electricity pole, leaving the front of the vehicle completely destroyed. The driver was trapped inside, forcing rescuers to use cutting equipment to retrieve him.

While the team was working, a Thai nurse stopped her car to assist. She realised the victim was her own boyfriend and broke down in tears.

The nurse explained that she had just finished her hospital shift. Her boyfriend had come to the hospital so that they could return home together, but as they were travelling in separate cars, he had left about five minutes before her.

She added that she had not recognised the damaged vehicle as her boyfriend’s and stopped purely out of professional duty to help.

According to ThaiRath, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The nurse accompanied him in the rescue vehicle, administering CPR throughout the journey in an attempt to resuscitate him.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Local motorists told reporters that multiple accidents had previously occurred at the same spot, describing it as dangerous due to the intersection and detour. Heavy rain on the night of the accident may also have been a factor.

The victim’s body was transferred to the Central Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani province for an autopsy.

Another tragic and shocking case was reported in Chachoengsao province in February, when a Thai man discovered his missing wife dead alongside her alleged lover in an SUV. The lover was suspected of fatally shooting the woman before taking his own life.

The husband had been searching for his wife, initially believing she had been targeted by criminals for her gold necklace. He reportedly had no knowledge of her secret relationship with the other man.
