A tragic accident occurred when a cement mixer truck collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a 59 year old rider and injuries to a female student passenger. The truck driver claimed he did not see the motorcycle but CCTV footage captured the entire incident.
Police officers from Bang Kruai Police Station and Ruamkatanyu Foundation personnel responded to the accident, which took place near Bang Bamru Railway Station in Nonthaburi. A cement mixer truck collided with a motorcycle, leading to the fatality and injury yesterday, November 14, around 1pm.
The deceased, identified as Kampol Rattanajangwang, was found face down, wearing a green rider’s jacket and black trousers. His helmet lay shattered beside him, while his blue Yamaha Fin motorcycle with registration 9 กอ 2382, Bangkok, was found toppled on the road with its rear light damaged.
The truck involved was a yellow 10-wheel Hino cement mixer, with registration 50-6811, Bangkok. Blood stains were visible on the rear right tyre of the truck. The injured passenger, a female student, was taken to Yanhee Hospital by rescue workers.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kampol was en route to deliver a customer, a student from a nearby university near Rama VII Bridge, when the accident occurred. Footage from a dashcam belonging to a witness showed Kampol’s motorcycle riding in the right lane ahead of the cement mixer truck, which approached from behind and collided with the motorcycle, causing it to be pushed against a roadside barrier.
The truck driver, during questioning, asserted that he was unaware of the motorcycle’s presence until he felt a jolt and vibration. He mentioned a van pulled alongside, signalling that an accident had occurred, prompting him to pull over, reported KhaoSod.
He expressed confusion over how the collision with the motorcycle happened. Police recorded the accident scene and retained the dashcam footage as evidence. They plan to conduct further questioning of the truck driver. The deceased’s body was handed over to Ruamkatanyu Foundation officials for transportation to the Institute of Forensic Science for autopsy.
