Teen girl gang-raped during Songkran celebration in Kanchanaburi

A 14 year old girl was allegedly deceived by three teenagers to join in extended Songkran festivities, only to be gang-raped and later abandoned at a petrol station.
Yesterday, April 16, Athisan Intra, the governor of Kanchanaburi province, assigned Chonthicha Wongutsa, the district chief of Laokhwan, along with Janchira Phattanasiri from the Kanchanaburi Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office and other officials, to visit the girl who is currently receiving treatment at Laokhwan Hospital following the incident.
Police Colonel Sethiarnpong Samrongsub, an investigator at Laokhwan Police Station, received a report from the 14 year old, referred to as T, that around 7am on April 15, she went to celebrate Songkran at Saikhao Market in Dan Chang district, Suphan Buri province, with friends.
By 7pm, a group of about 10 youths between 15 and 19 years old invited her to continue the celebrations in the Nong Sano subdistrict, Laokhwan district, Kanchanaburi province. Trusting them, she accepted the invitation and arrived at the home of a 16 year old Ball at approximately 9pm.
Around 10pm, Ball and approximately 10 others allegedly sexually assaulted and gang-raped her. Subsequently, the group took the girl to a petrol station in Nong Fai subdistrict, Laokhwan district, Kanchanaburi, leaving her to find her way home.
After the group departed, she sought assistance from a Good Samaritan who contacted the police at Laokhwan Police Station for help and to file a complaint against the youths involved.
According to her testimony, she identified three men, including 16 year old Ball, 19 year old Don, and 19 year old Sak, as the perpetrators. Investigators have taken the girl for a medical examination at Laokhwan Hospital to collect evidence, reported KhaoSod.
They also visited Ball’s residence to seize bedding for DNA analysis. The three youths are currently being questioned by officials. Today, April 17, the girl will be brought to the Kanchanaburi Provincial Prosecutor’s Office to provide further testimony with multidisciplinary officers, as legal proceedings continue.
