Police seize 520 kilogrammes of crystal meth in freezer bust

The Central Investigation Bureau announced the seizure of 520 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine hidden in freezers, aimed for distribution in southern Thailand. Police also disrupted a significant e-cigarette trade, arresting numerous suspects and confiscating thousands of products.
Police Lieutenant General Surapol Prembutr, commander of the Provincial Police Region 1, along with Deputy Commander Police Major General Chokchai Ngamwong and other officials, yesterday, March 11, disclosed the drug and e-cigarette seizures. The central region frequently serves as a storage area for illegal drugs due to its logistical convenience.
On March 9, police acted on a tip-off about a warehouse used for drug storage. During transportation, a suspicious delivery driver requested police inspection, leading to the discovery of crystal meth concealed in two large freezers.
Further investigation at the warehouse revealed another two freezers filled with drugs, totalling 520 kilogrammes.

Deputy Commander Chokchai highlighted the crackdown on e-cigarette distribution from February 26 to March 9. Police targeted major suppliers, resulting in 11 cases and the arrest of 20 people.
They seized 69,066 e-cigarettes and related equipment worth over 11 million baht (US$325,140).
In small-scale operations, especially around educational institutions, police filed 134 cases, arrested 139 suspects, and confiscated 8,487 products valued at over 3 million baht (US$88,675). Police Region 1 intends to continue these operations, warning offenders of the legal consequences.
In addition, Police Region 1 arrested a suspect involved in the theft of computers from a renowned coffee shop in the Ngamwongwan area, returning the items to the victims.
Another arrest was made involving a foreign national who smashed a car window to steal 1.5 million baht (US$44,330) in cash at a prominent shopping mall.
Furthermore, a suspect was apprehended for violently robbing a motorcycle and injuring the victim, with the arrest occurring in Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province, reported KhaoSod.
In similar news, three ministers revealed the confiscation of more than 200,000 illegally imported e-cigarette products from China, with a total value of 33 million baht. The seized items included disposable e-cigarettes, e-liquids, and vape pods.
