Serial dater or serial hater? Thai man denies assaulting woman

A Thai man denied brutally assaulting a woman he met on a dating app and threatened to launch a countersuit against her in protest. The man reportedly assaulted several women in the past.

The 27 year old alleged Thai woman sought help from the news programme Hone Krasae on Channel 3 following the alleged assaults and threats from the 37 year old man she met on the dating application. She was invited to the programme to share her story yesterday, March 11.

During an interview on the programme, the woman revealed that she had been chatting with the man online for about two to three weeks before meeting in person. Initially, the man spoke to her kindly and took good care of her when they first met.

The man maintained his polite and considerate demeanour until the day of the incident on March 1. He picked her up at her condominium and asked her to stay overnight at his home, reportedly saying that his cat had a “mental illness” and that he wanted her to accompany him to a hospital the next day.

Their evening progressed smoothly until they were about to go to bed. The woman failed to follow some of his instructions, such as switching on the wrong light and refusing to let him take her rubbish to the bin.

The man began to use vulgar language, something he had never done before. The woman became fearful and asked to return to her condominium, which further infuriated him.

The man then launched a series of violent attacks, strangling her, slapping her face, and threatening her with a gun. He even threatened to call others to gang-rape her, render her disabled, and kill her.

He then forced her to perform a sexual act on him before falling asleep. The woman did not dare to flee from his home, as he had reportedly confiscated her phone and other belongings.

The next morning, the man pretended to be innocent and even asked what caused the wounds and bruises on her body.

She chose not to respond and begged him to let her return to her condominium, using the excuse that an air-conditioning technician, with whom he had made an appointment, might notice the injuries.

After being allowed to leave, she rushed to a hospital to obtain a medical certificate and immediately filed a complaint with the police. Officers summoned the man for questioning, but he denied the assault and threatened to sue her in return.

The victim insisted that she was not the man’s first victim, claiming that he assaulted many women before. Concerned that she would not receive justice due to the man’s wealth, she decided to bring the matter to Hone Krasae.

According to the programme, police officers have not yet reported any progress on the case. Both parties have been summoned to the police station next week.
