Nakhon Phanom stabbing mars Songkran celebrations

In Nakhon Phanom, a 20 year old man was assaulted and stabbed during Songkran festivities on Monday. The incident occurred near Wat Pho Si in Mueang district, where police are now reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
Police Lieutenant Pichanon Ploemsuk and his team, along with emergency services, responded to the scene at the intersection of Si Chiang Mai alley and Thasanapathum Road. They found the victim, Wach, with a stab wound to his back.
He was initially treated by emergency services and then transferred to Nakhon Phanom Hospital, where he is now stable and recovering on the third floor of the 67 year old male ward building.
Wach recounted that the incident unfolded after 8pm,Monday, April 15, during the Songkran celebrations at Khao Pun Road, along the Mekong River, where a famous luk thung singer was performing. Wach, along with ten friends, was participating in traditional water splashing when they were confronted and chased by a group of four assailants.
Despite not knowing the attackers or having any prior conflicts, Wach was pursued from a snack shop to Wat Pho Si. Initially seeking refuge in the temple, he discovered the attackers were already there and fled down an alley, where he was ultimately stabbed.
Pol. Lt. Pichanon revealed initial investigations suggest the altercation may have involved a dispute with other youths at the event, leading to Wach being stabbed with an unidentified sharp object. Thankfully, his condition is now stable, reported KhaoSod.
Further interviews with Wach will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the attack. Concurrently, the police have coordinated with investigative teams to review nearby CCTV footage for clues to apprehend the suspects.
In similar news, police in Buriram have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 27 year old man named Rakkiat, who is accused of fatally shooting his friend during a drug-related argument amid Songkran festivities. Despite witness accounts and supporting evidence, the suspect continues to deny any involvement.
