Man arrested in Chon Buri for alleged assault on niece

A 42 year old man was apprehended following allegations of sexually assaulting his three year old niece in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district on April 6. The child’s mother, a 21 year old named A (pseudonym), reported the incident to police.

Yesterday, April 9 at 6pm, a concerned citizen informed local police that Yongyuth or Joe was hiding near a fishing pier in Samaesarn subdistrict. This prompted local leaders and district officials to mobilise and track him down.

Yongyuth was eventually found along a village road, where he was met with anger from residents and the child’s relatives, who verbally condemned and attempted to attack him. Police intervened to prevent violence and took him to Sattahip Police Station.

Police Colonel Khomsan Kamtunkaew of Sattahip Police Station stated that Yongyuth denied the allegations during questioning, claiming he did nothing wrong and rejected all accusations. However, police conducted a urine test which returned positive for drugs, indicating substance use, reported KhaoSod.

Legal proceedings are underway for the drug-related charges, while the investigation into the alleged assault continues. Police are waiting for a multidisciplinary team to assess the young girl’s testimony to proceed further.

In similar news, an 83 year old man has been taken into custody at his residence in Pa Phayom district, Phatthalung province, over allegations of repeatedly sexually assaulting his 15 year old granddaughter. The arrest, carried out by officers from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATP), followed a warrant issued by the Phatthalung Provincial Court on April 3.

The investigation was launched after the victim’s family filed a report with Pa Phayom Police Station, accusing Somsuk, who is the girl’s biological grandfather, of ongoing abuse that reportedly began last year.

The girl, referred to as G, was allegedly threatened with violence if she revealed the abuse. Unable to endure the situation any longer, she eventually opened up to her family, leading them to report the incident to the police.
