A former teacher who had been missing for nearly a month was discovered dead in her car in a hospital parking lot, leaving her grieving family with unanswered questions.

The case came to light when 63 year old Urai (surname withheld), reported the disappearance of her 45 year old daughter, Naruemon (surname withheld), also known as Gift.

According to Urai, Naruemon left for work as usual at 6am on January 26, driving her Honda Vios from her home in Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani, where she had been working after resigning from her teaching job five months earlier. However, she never returned, and all contact with her was lost.

On February 23 at 10am, officers from Nong Suea Police Station received a report of a body found inside a car at a hospital parking lot. Upon investigation, they identified the body as Naruemon and contacted her mother.

The body was sent for an autopsy at the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Medical Centre (SWU Hospital, Khlong 16) to determine the cause of death.

Urai recalled that in the first two days of her daughter’s disappearance, she repeatedly called her, but the phone went unanswered. She eventually filed a missing person report with Nong Suea Police Station and contacted relatives, but no one had seen or heard from Naruemon.

On February 23, Urai visited her daughter’s former school in the Saphan Daeng, Khlong 2 area of Thanyaburi, hoping to find clues about her whereabouts. That was when the police called, informing her that they had found her daughter’s car.

Body found

Initially, she believed her daughter might still be alive but unwell, given that the car was parked at a hospital. However, upon arrival, officers confirmed that her daughter had already passed away.

Urai expressed deep sorrow and confusion over her daughter’s death, questioning how and when she ended up in the hospital parking lot.

“If she had collapsed from exhaustion or lost consciousness, she should have been found in the driver’s seat. But why was she lying in the back seat?”

Urai urged police to review CCTV footage from the area to determine what time her daughter arrived at the hospital and whether she was alone or accompanied by someone. The family is also uncertain whether Naruemon died due to a pre-existing respiratory condition or other causes.

Naruemon’s funeral rites are currently being held at Wat Khlong Kao in Nong Suea, Pathum Thani, with the cremation scheduled for February 27.

Meanwhile, her 60 year old uncle, Wit (surname withheld), revealed that the hospital estimates the autopsy results will take about a month. He and the family are eager to learn when exactly the car arrived at the parking lot and whether Naruemon passed away immediately upon arrival, reported KhaoSod.

“We hope the police can thoroughly review security footage to clarify what happened and bring closure to our family,” Wit said.
