Fisherman dies on longtail boat in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A 55 year old fisherman tragically passed away after losing consciousness while on a longtail boat near Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Despite his wife’s efforts to seek help during the incident, the boat was eventually carried ashore by waves. The incident occurred at 1pm yesterday, March 25.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Muaydee, deputy superintendent of the investigation unit at Tha Sala Police Station, received the report of the unconscious man found in a beached longtail boat at Bon Non Beach, Mueang subdistrict.
Police and rescue personnel from the Siam Ruam Jai Pu In Tha Sala Foundation arrived at the scene and discovered Danan Buntepun unconscious, with his wife sitting beside him.
Although emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him, Danan was pronounced dead at the scene. An examination revealed no signs of injury or foul play.
Danan’s wife recounted how they had ventured out early in the morning for a fishing trip, intending to set nets not far from the shore. As they were working close to noon, Danan suddenly felt faint and lost consciousness.
Unable to operate the boat, his wife could only wait for assistance from nearby fishing vessels. However, after approximately an hour, the waves pushed their boat to shore, prompting her to call for rescue. Unfortunately, Danan had already passed away by then, reported KhaoSod.
Officials have indicated that the likely cause of death was sudden heart failure. The body has been sent for an autopsy, after which it will be returned to the family for religious rites.

Officers from the Phuket Tourist Assistance Centre (Khai Mook Centre) responded to the report at around 8.20am on March 16 after being alerted by a local fishing boat. The body, found floating face down, was in an advanced state of decomposition.
