Body found in Phuket sea believed to be missing American woman

Thai fishermen yesterday discovered the body of a foreigner floating between Koh Racha Yai and Koh He in Phuket province. The foreigner is suspected to be the missing American woman.
Officers from the Phuket Tourist Assistance Centre (Khai Mook Centre) investigated the floating body at around 8.20am, yesterday, March 16, after being notified by a local fishing boat. The body was found floating face down and was completely decomposed.
The body is believed to be that of a foreign national but the gender has not yet been confirmed. The deceased was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and pink shorts. The body, legs, and arms were swollen and decomposed, with only the skull remaining.
Officers retrieved the body from the sea and transported it ashore to Chalong Bay Pier for further autopsy.
Matichon reported that the body might belong to the missing American woman, 38 year old Nina Ng. Ng went missing in February after renting a jet ski at Patong Beach and venturing off the coast alone.

The jet ski was later found floating 1 kilometre away from Patong Beach, along with Ng’s belongings, including her phone, cash, a credit card, and a hotel keycard.
A Thai boat driver who passed by the area reported seeing Ng stop her jet ski in the middle of the sea and jump in to swim. Thai rescuers conducted searches for several days after her disappearance but found no trace of the woman.

Three weeks ago, another body was discovered floating in the sea near Pattaya. Local police reported that the body of an unidentified man was found near Pratumnak Hill. An initial investigation found no signs of foul play.
No personal documents or belongings that could identify him were found. Further investigation and an autopsy were conducted, but no updates on the case have been made public.

In January, the body of a Thai tour boat crew member was discovered offshore. He had reportedly stayed on the boat overnight with other crew members, shared dinner, and rested separately. The captain noticed his absence the following morning and was preparing to report the matter to the police when the body was found.
