St. Andrews Green Valley receives the Wellbeing Award for Schools
This international school in Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard is recognised for its commitment to student wellbeing and emotional support

St. Andrews International School, Green Valley is proud to once again have been officially recognised with the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS) in their recent re-accreditation.
The award, developed by Optimus Education in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau, acknowledges the school’s ongoing work to prioritise mental health and wellbeing across its community.
The school first earned the award in 2022, becoming the first school in Thailand to receive the accolade. The latest renewal reflects St. Andrews Green Valley’s continued commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment for students and staff.
What the award process involves
The Wellbeing Award for Schools was created to support a long-term cultural shift in schools across the UK and internationally. It encourages school leaders to put mental health and emotional wellbeing at the centre of daily practice.
In order to receive the award, schools need to go through an evidence-based process that includes self-evaluation, staff development, strategic planning, and regular review. Schools must demonstrate their commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of their whole community.
How Green Valley achieves it

For St. Andrews Green Valley, this recognition reflects years of dedicated work. The school has implemented a whole-school approach that makes emotional wellbeing a shared responsibility. Teachers, leaders, and support staff are all involved in developing systems that make sure every student is supported throughout their time at school.
A representative of the school said: “We are immensely proud of our culture of care at Green Valley. Working towards the Wellbeing Award for Schools ensures we reach a high standard in the way we support and care for our community and are always striving to enhance our provision.”
One of the strengths of the school’s approach is the way it empowers students through active participation. Student voice initiatives are a central part of life at Green Valley. Every child is encouraged to speak openly, offer feedback, and contribute to the decisions that shape their daily experiences. The WAS report highlighted the impact, stating: “Students feel very safe and know adults in school genuinely care about their wellbeing.”
Parents are partners in their child’s educational journey at St Andrews Green Valley, and parents play a very important role in the wellbeing strategy. Parent voice is integral to school development and wellbeing initiatives ensure parents are planned for and included. On a visit to the school parents can be seen participating in Pilates or friendly sports games, attending workshops, or socialising at the coffee shop. Green Valley is a school that recognises the importance of parents’ own connections with others for their wellbeing.
The report highlighted that “Parents value the work of the school in supporting both students and the wider family. They appreciate the focus on pastoral support and guidance for their children.”
Continuing the commitment

Having earned the award in both 2022 and 2025, St. Andrews Green Valley has shown consistency in values and actions. These back-to-back recognitions reflect a long-term commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment where wellbeing is part of everyday life.
The impact of the award has been felt across the school. It has served as an acknowledgement of how hard the staff work, which in turn strengthens the quality of care students receive. St. Andrews Green Valley will continue building on this momentum.
