If design, politics, and philosophy had a crossover episode, A≠A: There is No Cure For Lack would be it. This typography exhibition shows us how words shape the way we think, especially when it comes to politics.

Inspired by Soravis Jayanama’s book ’Cause We Are Lacking: The Politics of Enjoyment, the show breaks down the usual left-right, progressive-conservative divide and asks why we cling to these labels in the first place.

While the exhibition runs until March 9, be sure to swing by on March 1. Jayanama will host a talk and Q&A session (in Thai only), unpacking the ideas in his book and how they translate into visual form.

Date & Time: Saturday, March 1, from 6pm

Location: Paradise Lost, Siam@Siam Design Hotel, 865 Rama I Rd, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330

Price: Free entry

If you can’t make it to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, Paradise Lost is bringing the party to Bangkok. With A DJ and live saxophone, as well as masks, beads, and a few surprises along the way, fun is almost guaranteed.

The food is straight from the Big Easy, with four stations serving up classics. There’s Jambalaya, a spicy, smoky rice dish packed with sausage, chicken, seafood, and vegetables. Shrimp Étouffée, a rich, buttery stew over rice. Po’Boys, the ultimate Louisiana sandwich, stuffed with crispy fried seafood or roast beef smothered in gravy. And, of course, Beignets, which is deep-fried pillows of dough drowning in powdered sugar, best paired with a café au lait.

Drinks are just as fun. The Hurricane is the star. It’s fruity, dangerously strong, and pretty much required drinking. There’s also a Mango Strawberry Daiquiri for something tropical and smooth, or a Ramos Gin Fizz if you’re into creamy, citrusy cocktails.

La Monita Taqueria is turning 15, and they’re throwing a party with tacos, tequila, and tunes.

Food-wise, expect La Monita’s signature Mexican street food, plus some special edition tacos and dishes from Billy’s Smokehouse, Thai Niyom Cuisine, and Santiaga Mexican Cuisine. Drinks? Margaritas are a given, but a guest bartender will be mixing up one-night-only cocktails, so that’s worth showing up for.

The music lineup is stacked. We Hungry is taking over the decks with a mix of hip-hop, reggaeton, salsa, Afrobeats, and R&B.

On top of that, live performances include Khan from Thaitanium, a legend in Thailand’s hip-hop scene, along with Coco’s soulful jazz, Lilly V’s high-energy Latin beats, and Ample Soul’s smooth Bangkok sound.
