Phuket woman gives birth at home before rescue arrives

Sudden birth sparks local buzz over home’s number

A woman in Thalang district, Phuket, gave birth to a healthy baby boy at home before rescue services arrived. The incident occurred at 4.40pm yesterday, June 11. Both mother and child were safely transferred to a hospital for further care. Locals showed interest in the house number for lucky lottery digits.

Rescue personnel from the Mai Khao subdistrict received a request to assist a woman, identified as Surarak Ginra, who was about to deliver her baby at her home located at house number 48, Moo 5, Mai Khao subdistrict, Thalang district, Phuket. However, upon arrival, they discovered that she had already given birth to a boy in good health, reported KhaoSod.

The rescue team coordinated with Thalang Hospital to send an advanced ambulance to the scene. Both mother and child are currently safe and under the hospital’s care. News of the birth attracted residents who gathered to congratulate the new mother and also noted the house number, hoping it might bring them luck.

In similar news, a traffic police officer in Mueang Udon Thani district became an impromptu midwife once again, assisting with the birth of a baby girl in a pickup truck before escorting the mother and child to the hospital on his motorcycle. This remarkable delivery marks the eighth successful birth he has helped facilitate.

On March 24, Police Lance Corporal Charern Chantharak from Mueang Udon Thani Police Station received an alert about a woman in labour inside a pickup truck parked at Ban Huai Market in Udon Thani municipality. He responded quickly, arriving alongside an ambulance from Udon Thani Central Hospital.

Drawing on his emergency training, Charern delivered the baby at the scene, carefully clearing the infant’s airway with a bulb syringe and encouraging her first cries before wrapping her warmly.

Once the medical staff arrived, he handed over the newborn and then led the ambulance to the hospital, ensuring a safe and swift journey through traffic.
