Phuket drug bust: 6 arrested with heroin

A major drug crackdown in Wichit, Phuket, led to the arrest of six suspects, including a man caught with over 79 grammes of heroin. The coordinated raids, carried out yesterday, April 8, have sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
Six suspects were arrested in a well-executed drug operation led by Wichit Police, with heroin, drug paraphernalia, and evidence of distribution seized during a series of raids. The arrests, which took place yesterday, targeted drug-related activity in Phuket and Surat Thani provinces.
Among those arrested was 29 year old Jirakrit Buakaew from Surat Thani. Police found him in possession of more than 79 grammes of heroin, neatly packaged in multiple plastic bags, alongside drug packaging materials and a digital scale.
Officers also seized his Toyota Vigo pickup truck, which is believed to have been used in drug distribution. A field drug test confirmed that Jirakrit tested positive for heroin use.
He now faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute a Category 1 narcotic, use of heroin, and contributing to public drug proliferation.
In a separate raid, 31 year old Anuwat Saengkaew, also from Surat Thani, was arrested after being found with approximately 0.15 gramme of heroin.
Police also seized his white Honda Scoopy motorbike. Like Jirakrit, Anuwat tested positive for heroin use and faces charges of possession and use of a Category 1 narcotic.
The series of raids also led to the arrest of four other men, who were found to be using heroin. These suspects were identified as 25 year old Yongyut Na Songkhla, from Phatthalung; 23 year old Thawatchai Kratok from Phuket; 32 year old Nattawut Songmuang from Phuket; and 24 year old Kittisak Jaismut from Surat Thani.
All of the men tested positive for heroin use and were arrested inside a rented room on Chao Fa West Road in Wichit, reported The Phuket News.
All six suspects have been taken to Wichit Police Station and have been charged accordingly.
Wichit Police emphasised their ongoing commitment to combating drug-related activity in the area, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
