Woman’s drink driving leaves motorcyclist injured in Pattaya
A woman driving a car collided with a motorcycle, leaving the male rider seriously injured. The police suspect the woman was intoxicated and have sent her for alcohol testing. The incident occurred at 1am today, August 8, on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya, near Chaiyaphruek Intersection.
At the scene, officials found a severely damaged Honda Jazz with a Bangkok registration that had rear-ended a Honda Wave 100 motorcycle, trapping the bike against the car. The collision left a Thai man, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, lying in the middle of the road with severe injuries.
His left leg and both arms were broken. Without any identification documents, he was quickly given first aid and rushed to a nearby hospital.
The car’s driver, identified as 27 year old Netnapa, exhibited signs of intoxication. She admitted to driving on Sukhumvit Road in the right lane and failing to see the motorcycle before the collision. Netnapa stated that she was extremely shocked by the incident and notified the police as soon as she regained her composure, reported KhaoSod.
Rescue officials coordinated with the Pattaya City Police’s Dongtan sub-branch to review nearby CCTV footage to gather evidence. They also conducted an alcohol test on Netnapa to proceed with legal action.
In related news, a tragic accident occurred when a truck collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a factory worker. The incident took place at 7.30am on July 24, on the inbound Asia Road near kilometre marker 11 in Khung Lan, Bang Pa-in district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Police officer Nakrob Chobthamthan rushed to the scene along with Ayutthaya Ruamjai Association staff.
At the scene, the deceased, identified as 41 year old Pattarawadee, was found wearing her factory uniform. Her body sustained severe injuries, with her head split open and body parts scattered across the road.
