Pattaya police hunt thief after gold heist worth 45,000 baht

Pattaya police launched a manhunt for a thief who snatched a gold ring from a jewellery store in the city centre.

The operation began at 8pm yesterday, December 1, and was led by Navin Teerawit, the superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, Chon Buri, along with Sirachat Nutes, deputy superintendent of the same station. The officers and volunteers surrounded a wooded area in the Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung district, as they sought to apprehend the suspect.

The incident unfolded at 6.30pm when a Thai man of medium build, with a tanned complexion, entered the Golden 99 Yaowarat gold shop located on the first floor of the Com Pattaya building. He was wearing a black and red long-sleeved jacket and black trousers.

The man requested to see a gold ring weighing one baht, valued at 45,000 baht. As soon as the shop assistant handed the ring to him, he bolted from the store.

After fleeing the store, the thief changed into a white T-shirt and hailed a motorcycle taxi to take him to the Soi Land Department. Pursued by detectives, the suspect jumped off the motorcycle and disappeared into the nearby wooded area.

The police then intensified their efforts, deploying patrol motorcycles and volunteers to search the surroundings. The darkness and dense forest made the search challenging, and the suspect had not yet been captured.
