Pattaya Tourist Police catch Cambodian duo in water safety sting

Pattaya Tourist Police arrested two Cambodian men as they conducted a water safety plan in the popular holiday seaside resort.

Pattaya Tourist Police, in collaboration with the Water Transport Inspection Unit, Regional Harbor Office 6 (Pattaya Branch), and the Chon Buri Marine Disaster Prevention Division, intensified their efforts to enhance water safety over the past weekend. The joint inspection aimed at ensuring the safety of water traffic in the area as part of the strategic “Pattaya Model” plan.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyapong Ensan, Senior Inspector of Tourist Police Division 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau 1, led the initiative along with Pol. Lt. Col. Suphaphan Mipricha and Pol. Lt. Col. Aphichat Charurak. The team, comprising duty officers and patrol teams, utilized tourist police patrol boats to cover the inspection comprehensively.

The inspection was conducted at Bali Hai Pier, focusing on the following aspects of 11 boats: certificates of the ship’s operators, the seaworthiness of the ships, noise levels of the ship engines, ship documents, and safety equipment on board. The inspection confirmed that no violations were found among the eleven boats checked.

Additionally, the Tourist Police disseminated Pattaya City Order No. 3063/2567. This order urged all ship operators to comply with regulations regarding the use of the Pattaya City pier area, explicitly prohibiting overnight or long-term parking of ships at the pier without legal permission.

During the inspection, two Cambodian nationals, 30 year old Poy Neang and 34 year old Koo Sann were found on a ship without proper visas and work documentation. They were arrested and sent to the Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings on charges of residing in the kingdom without permission, reported Patta News.

In related news, an insurance agent was assaulted by a homeless man in Pattaya’s Soi Phra Tamnak 5. The incident happened at 8pm yesterday, August 17, when the 30 year old agent, identified only as Thanapon, was struck in the head with a wooden stick. Thanapon, who works for an insurance company, was handling a road accident claim when the attack occurred.
