Pattaya police arrest app driver for assaulting teen passengers
Police in Pattaya arrested a 47 year old app based driver for sexually assaulting two female passengers aged 15 and 18. The incidents occurred while the victims were being driven to their destinations.
The first victim, a 15 year old girl using the pseudonym A, recounted her experience. She ordered a Toyota Vios via a ride-hailing app at 4.30am yesterday, August 27, to take her to Nong Pla Lai, Bang Lamung. Initially seated in the back, she was asked by the driver, Seksan, to sit in the front.
During the journey, the driver started to touch her inappropriately. Despite her protests, he continued until they reached her destination. Upon arrival, the driver demanded a kiss on the cheek, which she refused. She quickly paid and ran into her house in distress, later confiding in her boyfriend, who accompanied her to report the incident at the Bang Lamung Police Station.
The second incident involved an 18 year old girl, pseudonym B, who reported a similar experience with the same driver on August 20 around 4am. She was assaulted near the same location as her younger sister, A. Upon learning they had both been attacked by the same driver, B and her friends tracked him down to his apartment. They stood outside and called the police to apprehend him, reported KhaoSod.
During the arrest, the scene became chaotic as the victims’ boyfriends, friends, and relatives attempted to physically harm Seksan. Police had to intervene to maintain order and ensure his safety while taking him into custody for legal proceedings.
In related news, a German teacher was “lucky” to escape an attempted rape by a Grab rider and sought help at a tea shop on Suppasit Road in Ubon Ratchathani’s Isaan province around 7.30pm on August 23.
Officers from Mueang Ubon Ratchathani Police Station received a report of the attempted rape by staff at the Cha Chok Dee (“lucky tea”) shop. Officers rushed to the scene with officials from the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Rescue Foundation.
