Pakistani men arrested for aggressive sales tactics in Pattaya

Two Pakistani nationals were arrested in Pattaya for working illegally at a local herbal shop, where they allegedly harassed tourists with aggressive sales tactics. Acting on multiple complaints, Tourist Police swooped in on Sunday, February 16, catching the pair in the act.
The operation, led by Police Colonel Songwut Chueaplakit, Superintendent of Investigation at the Tourist Police Bureau, took place at 9.20pm after reports surfaced of foreigners annoying tourists and persistently pushing herbal products at the Healthy Herb Shop, located at 194/15-16, Village 10.
Under the directive of Pol. Col. Songwut, Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Raksa, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, led a police team to the shop, where they found 34 year old Mohsin and 23 year old Shakbaz selling herbal products.
A routine check revealed that neither possessed valid work permits, making their employment illegal under Thai immigration laws.
Both people were immediately detained and charged with working without permission under the Immigration Act 1979. They now face deportation and blacklisting from Thailand.

Pol. Col. Songwut, who also serves as Director of the Crime Suppression Division, emphasised the strict enforcement of Thai labour laws, particularly within the tourism sector, where only Thai nationals are permitted to work as tour guides.
“We encourage tourists and locals to report suspicious or illegal activities to the Tourist Police hotline 1155. Ensuring compliance with Thai laws helps maintain Pattaya’s reputation as a world-class destination.”
Police have warned that further inspections will continue, targeting foreigners working illegally and businesses employing them in violation of Thai labour laws, reported The Pattaya News.

In similar news, Bang Lamung police launched a weekend raid in Naklua, arresting four foreign nationals working illegally behind Naklua New Market in Chon Buri province. The operation, carried out on Saturday, February 15, uncovered two individuals who had overstayed their visas for an astonishing six years.
The crackdown, focused on rooting out illegal foreign workers, took place in Moo 5, Naklua subdistrict. Upon confirming their unauthorised stay, officers immediately took the suspects into custody. Facing legal action, they are now set for deportation.
Police continue efforts to combat illegal employment, reinforcing Thailand’s strict immigration policies and ensuring compliance with labour laws.
