Fugitive thief and hit-and-run suspect captured in Pattaya

A sleepy fugitive’s midday snooze turned into a rude awakening after Pattaya police busted a 23 year old man wanted for theft and a fatal hit-and-run. The arrest unfolded while the suspect was dozing off beside a motorcycle repair shop.
At 1pm on Thursday, April 3, officers from Pattaya Police Station arrested Mintada, who had been on the run from two separate warrants issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court. One warrant related to jointly committing nighttime residential theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, transport stolen property, or evade capture. The other stemmed from a fatal hit-and-run incident under the jurisdiction of Huai Yai Police Station.
Police found Mintada sleeping on a sofa beside the repair shop in Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man 23, a quiet street in Pattaya where he had reportedly been hiding out and working for some time.
Following an intensive investigation, officers tracked down the suspect’s location and moved in quickly to detain him. Officers say Mintada confessed to all the charges against him during questioning.
“He didn’t resist and admitted to everything,” said a police spokesperson. “He’d been hiding in plain sight.”
The alleged theft involved a break-in at a residence during the night, where Mintada is believed to have used a vehicle to transport stolen items and flee the scene. Details about the hit-and-run have not yet been fully disclosed, but officials confirmed the incident resulted in at least one fatality, reported The Pattaya News.
Mintada has since been handed over to investigators for further legal action.
Locals expressed surprise at the arrest, with one resident stating, “I had no idea he was wanted for something so serious. He just seemed like a regular guy working at the shop.”
In similar news, a 27 year old Israeli fugitive was arrested in Pattaya after overstaying his visa and being flagged on an Interpol Red Notice for a brutal assault in Tel Aviv.
The suspect was detained on February 3 by Thai immigration police. His visa was revoked, and he faced deportation.
