Foreigner assaults Thai man after alleged hit-and-run in Pattaya

A viral video surfaced showing a foreigner physically assaulting a Thai man in the middle of a road, following an alleged hit-and-run incident in Pattaya.
The Thai motorist who witnessed the incident shared the video on his Facebook account yesterday, March 16, with a caption that read, “The assault was caused by a motorcycle crash. They ended up at a police station.”
In the video, the Thai man is seen attempting to defend himself by kicking the foreign man. The foreigner then grabbed his legs and pulled him, which could have caused injuries as the Thai man was shirtless. The foreigner subsequently kicked the Thai man hard in the chest, straddled him, and banged the victim’s head on the road.
Another foreign man, suspected to be the attacker’s friend, approached and asked his friend to stop, but the attacker ignored him. This prompted a motorcycle taxi rider to intervene, pulling the foreigner away.
After getting up, the Thai victim explained to the gathered crowd that the foreigner crashed into his motorcycle and fled the scene.
The person recording the video is heard telling another witness that they should confiscate the foreigner’s motorcycle key to prevent him from escaping and call the police to the scene.

Nevertheless, the two Thai men in the conversation expressed their fear, saying that the foreigner was too big for them to handle. One of them was heard saying…
“They (the two foreigners in the video) are not the same as Arab or Indian tourists. Those don’t fight back. These foreigners, especially ones from France, fight.”

The nationalities of the two foreigners in the video were not revealed. Channel 7 reported that police arrived at the scene later and took both parties for questioning.
The foreign motorcyclist reportedly agreed to pay a fine, and the Thai man eventually decided not to pursue further legal action. The media did not clarify how much the fine was or whether it was for the accident or the physical assault.

Two other hit-and-run cases involving foreign motorcyclists were previously reported in Pattaya. In January, a foreign man crashed his motorcycle into a Laotian housekeeper’s motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving the victim in critical condition.
Another foreign motorcycle rider hit a Thai food delivery rider in February and immediately left the scene. Fortunately, the victim sustained only minor injuries.
