A violent altercation involving a drunk foreigner attacking a German man and his Thai wife unfolded at the Gold Bar Beer on Soi 6, Pattaya Beach Road, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district yesterday.

Pattaya police were alerted to the incident at around 12.10am yesterday, August 20, immediately rushing to the scene with local rescue services.

Upon arrival, police found Ral Peter Mallon, a 60 year old German national, suffering from a serious head injury. His 27 year old Thai wife, Pornwin Ramakul, had sustained a loose tooth. The couple received first aid on-site before being transported to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further treatment.

A witness to the incident, 28 year old Kanyarat Wansena, recounted that while she and her friends were at the bar, an intoxicated foreigner began harassing them. The man accused them of causing distress to one of his friends, which Kanyarat denied. Despite their attempts to calm him down, the foreigner became increasingly aggressive.

Mallon intervened to defuse the situation but was allegedly punched by the foreigner, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. This resulted in a head injury that required over nine stitches. Doctors advised that Mallon remains under observation due to concerns about potential brain trauma. The suspect also struck Pornwin, resulting in a loose tooth.

The suspect, who refused to provide his full identity, identified himself only as Michael and gave his age as 44 years. During interactions with the media, he made an obscene gesture, raising his middle finger in front of police officers.

It has been revealed that Michael attempted to settle the matter privately by offering compensation to the victims. However, the police are waiting for the victims to recover before proceeding with further serious legal actions against the assailant, reported Pattaya News.
