Chinese tourists’ bags handed back by officers in Pattaya
A Bali Hai Pier police officer earned applause for his honesty and dedication after recovering two lost bags filled with cash and crucial documents, returning them to their rightful owners – two Chinese tourists who were left stunned and grateful.
On March 18, Thanongsak Chimluang, an officer stationed at Bali Hai Pier, was on duty when he received a tip-off from a tour guide about a shoulder bag discovered in the transportation waiting area.
The bag was suspected to belong to a tourist who had rushed off to board a vehicle. Inside, officers found a passport and a significant amount of cash, said Thanongsak.
“Shortly after, a male Chinese tourist returned to the spot frantically searching for his belongings.”
The officers called the tour guide to help confirm the bag’s ownership. Upon inspection, the bag contained 98 banknotes of 100 yuan each, totalling around 49,000 baht, with more than 10,000 baht in cash.
After verifying the tourist’s identity and confirming the contents, the bag was promptly returned to its relieved owner. However, the honesty of the Bali Hai Pier officers didn’t end there.
During their search of the area, they also discovered another bag containing important documents and cash. The officers quickly alerted the public and waited for the rightful owner.
Within moments, another Chinese tourist arrived to reclaim the bag. The officer again conducted a thorough inspection, and after confirming the bag’s contents and the owner’s identity, it was swiftly returned, reported The Pattaya News.
The incidents were met with widespread admiration, with both the local community and the tourists praising the officers for their integrity and commitment to providing excellent service.
